1. WHY DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE CLASS?
This class meets all requirements outlined in Pierce County Local Rule for Special Proceedings 94.05, which mandates attendance at a four-hour class designated to address the impact family restructuring has on children. All instructors have been approved by the courts.
2. WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF THIS CLASS?
To assist parents/caregivers in contributing to the normal development of their children. We help them understand the emotional and cognitive needs of their children, as well as how their children might be coping with the family transition. This class is interactive and it is a safe place for you to express and listen to the common problems that may happen, and find healthy ways to cope with challenges. The instructors have taken the extra step to make this class fun, and include both activities and media into the presentation.
3. HOW DO I PAY FOR THIS CLASS?
The first step is to fill out the pre-registration form at our website www.hopesparks.org. Once you have completed the form, you can go ahead and completed your registration by paying online (full fee only). You can also call us (253-565-4484) or stop by the office to pay (6424 N 9th Street 98406). Pre-pay is required for attending the class and spaces are limited. Please remember is you have not made a payment, you are not fully registered for the class.
4. WHAT IF I CAN’T AFFORD IT?
We do offer a sliding fee scale. If you have questions on qualifying, please first fill out the pre-registration form and then contact our office at 253-565-4484 (press 0 to reach the front desk).
5. WHAT IF THE FEE WAS WAVED BUT I CAN’T MAKE IT TO THE CLASS I REGISTERED FOR?
If you contact HopeSparks within a 24-hour period of the class you are registered for, we will reschedule you. If you do not show up or cancel at the at the last minute there will be a rescheduling fee.
6. WILL YOU BE PRINTING OUT THE CERTIFICATE FOR ME TO TAKE?
We will be giving you a certificate to take with you at the end of the class. We will, in most cases, e-file them to the Pierce County Superior Court. If for any reason HopeSparks is unable to e-file your certificate, you will be responsible for filing your certificate. Reasons include: You have not filed yet, do not have a case number or you have filed in another county other than Pierce. We file all certificates on the day of your seminar or within 24-hours.
7. WHAT IF THE OTHER PARTY DOES NOT TAKE THE CLASS?
We cannot control what other parties do or don’t do. Our goal is support you and your needs with getting your seminar complete. Please consult your attorney and/or the court for issues relating to other parties.
8. ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. CAN I BRING A TRANSLATOR?
Yes, you can bring a translator. However, they will not get a certificate for attending the class with you unless they pay for attending.
9. ARE CHILDREN ALLOWED IN THE CLASS?
No, children are not allowed in this class, nor do we offer childcare. Please make your own childcare arrangements prior to the class.
10. WHAT IF I REGISTERED BUT I CANNOT MAKE IT TO THE CLASS?

11. WHAT IF I’M LATE FOR THE CLASS?
The court mandates attendance at a four-hour class. If you are more than 10 minutes late you will not be allowed in the class, but you can reschedule for a class at a later date. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 253-565-4484 and schedule a new date if you think you will not be able to make it.
12. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
This is a four-hour class. We provide coffee, water and granola bars. We do not have a soda vending machine or sell food, so please feel free to bring your own refreshments if you need to.
13. WHAT BUS ROUTE DO I TAKE?
Take bus route #1 and get off at the bus stop in front of Grocery Outlet. We are on the street right behind Grocery Outlet on 6th Ave.

15. ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE FILING OF YOUR CERTIFICATE:
You should bring these types of questions to the courts, as we do not have control of court systems. We merely enter the information, and you can access your certificate online.
